Is Splinterlands Down Right Now? How to Check Server and Hive Status

Splinterlands has no smart contracts of its own: every battle, card transfer and trade gets written to Hive as a custom_json transaction, which its back-end servers read and interpret. A "down" moment rarely has one cause. Work through the layers below.

Layer 1: Splinterlands' own game servers

Most real outages that make people ask "is Splinterlands down" live here, usually capacity or scheduled maintenance, not anything blockchain-related. There's no dedicated status page, so the community treats the official X account and Discord as the de facto splinterlands server status feed.

One catch: the "Down for Maintenance" screen can stick around after the game is back because your browser cached it, which is why players report splinterlands maintenance long after it's over. A hard refresh usually fixes it.

Layer 2: The Hive blockchain

If the game servers look fine, check the chain. No single dashboard covers all of it, so here's the short list players actually use:

• X and Discord for anything server-side, the closest thing Splinterlands has to a real status page

• A block explorer for the chain itself

• The in-game RPC setting for your own connection

Run them in that order and you'll know which layer failed, no dev-tools needed. It's not new either: back in August 2021, Splinterlands went dark for hours during a server upgrade.

Most of the time, honestly? It's a cached maintenance screen or one congested node, not a real outage. Refresh the page first. If that doesn't fix it, switch your node and check Discord, and you'll usually be back in a match before an official tweet goes out.
