Two different events keep getting filed under one headline, and if you play Gods Unchained, the immutable zkEVM confusion can cost you actual tokens.

The chain-level merger is the 2026 story. NFT News Today reported that Immutable announced the consolidation on April 8, 2025. The bridge contract upgrade landed February 11, 2026, which is when Immutable X went write-blocked, and the automatic migration finished around February 25 after a mandatory two-week security delay. Full unification landed in mid-to-late July 2026. Sources give July 15 and July 30, so honestly, neither date deserves the confidence. Immutable's stated reason was blunt: two Layer-2s fragmented liquidity and confused users.

The one thing genuinely worth checking
Tokens. Always tokens.
Cards moved themselves. $GODS, ETH, IMX and USDC never did. The Gods Unchained team was explicit that bridging those mattered for "continued participation in upcoming events, rewards, and sinks that will be hosted exclusively on zkEVM." That was a nudge in 2025. It's sharper now, since the chain those balances sit on stopped accepting writes in February.
Still got something parked over there? Bridge it to Immutable zkEVM via Layerswap, Squid, or Immutable's own toolkit. Whichever you've used before is fine. That same FAQ flags two ways it goes sideways: an interrupted withdrawal can leave a token unusable until it's re-deposited, and thin ETH for gas stalls the transaction outright.
Wallets and gas, post-merge
This part actually improved. Your Immutable zkEVM wallet balances now show up inside standard wallets like MetaMask or Passport with no special linking tool in the middle, Esports Insider reported, and migrated assets landed in whichever Ethereum wallet originally created the Immutable Link account.

What's still rolling out, hedged properly
zkEVM General Availability means the deployer allowlist comes off so any developer can ship contracts. The honest wrinkle: Immutable reportedly removed a deployer allowlist on standalone zkEVM back in October 2024, so this milestone probably refers to the newly unified chain rather than a first-ever unlock. No primary documentation makes that distinction clean.
The Passport Dashboard is the more player-relevant one, pulling on-ramping, bridging and swapping into Passport itself, which would cut third-party bridge tools out of future moves. AVALON, Immutable's AI-driven user-generated-content platform, went into private beta in July 2026, but it runs on Sony's Soneium chain rather than Immutable zkEVM. Adjacent news, not a chain feature.
