Gods Unchained News: Season 17, Lore: Origins and a Payments Rewrite in Three Weeks

Gods Unchained News: Season 17, Lore: Origins and a Payments Rewrite in Three Weeks

Most crypto TCGs coast through August. Gods Unchained did the opposite. If you only check gods unchained news when your timeline shouts, you missed three announcements between August 5 and August 24, and they're not even the same species of update. A paid season pass. A story dump. And plumbing, which is honestly the one I'd care about most. All three are dated posts, right there on the game's own blog index.

1

Gods Unchained Battle Pass Season 17, "Guardians Rise"

The Season 17 announcement went up August 5, but the pass doesn't start until August 13 at 00:00 UTC. Eight days apart, so don't let a recap tell you it went live on the 5th.

It runs 28 days across 60 levels, roughly 350 XP a day if you want to finish. Morax and Kaori are the featured characters. Collector costs 300 $GODS and hands 250 $GODS back with packs and tickets; Whale runs 750 $GODS for a fatter haul plus a Whale-only card back.

What Immutable didn't publish: any card count, meta shift, or adoption number. So nobody credible has one.

2

Lore: Origins is a story drop, not a card drop

Same day the pass started, the portal put out Lore: Origins, filling in backstory for six champions: Selena, Valka, Neferu, Orfeo, Lysander and Argus.

The plot is genuinely nasty. Thaeriel, the former god of Light, rigged the trial that picked them, and it was meant as an execution. Ludia worked out what he was up to. An older malevolent force had been steering Thaeriel long before that, until Elderym, a living continent, severed his influence. Lysander survived, and he holds the Light seat now.

The page is narrative text start to finish. If you came here hunting Gods Unchained new cards, Lore: Origins won't give you any; a recap that calls it a card drop is guessing.

3

The payments overhaul is the quiet big one

On August 24 the portal published the month's real Gods Unchained crypto news: a quality-of-life update to payments, live the next day. USDC, ETH and IMX now work alongside $GODS, converted automatically at checkout.

Bigger than the currency list, though. Payment and delivery became one backend action, and the post admits outright that orders used to "stall in the moment between payment and delivery." I respect that more than a vague "performance improvements" line. The separate order page is gone, and prices now track the market continuously instead of being nudged by hand weekly. IMX Passport users get network fees covered.

Rival Splinterlands spent the same month on a steady weekly patch rhythm instead. Gods Unchained vs Splinterlands here isn't a fairness contest; it's a philosophy one: batch overhaul against weekly increments. Two live-ops philosophies, neither wrong.

4

Gods Unchained vs Stellarch

Fair's fair. Gods Unchained wins on the stuff you clock in ten seconds. Production values. Marketing reach. Genuinely browser-playable, genuinely free to start. Immutable ships a lore release and a payments rewrite in three weeks because it has the budget to, and pretending otherwise would be the rigged verdict that makes a blog worthless.

Where Stellarch answers something real: combat resolves through a deterministic, seeded-RNG engine, so every match replays byte-identically from its seed. Provably fair means you check the math yourself instead of trusting an operator's word on pack odds. No gas-fee friction either. A brand-new account drafts a full legal team of Fighters from a virtual ghost catalog, no card purchase, and email or Google signup works without touching a wallet. Browser game on Hive, same chain family as Splinterlands, 290+ cards across 8 affinities.

The caveat I won't bury: it's a closed alpha. You join the waitlist, you don't parachute into a launched product today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Gods Unchained Battle Pass Season 17?

"Guardians Rise" runs 28 days across 60 levels from August 13 at 00:00 UTC, with Morax and Kaori featured. Collector costs 300 $GODS, Whale 750 $GODS with an exclusive card back.

Did Lore: Origins add new Gods Unchained cards?

No confirmed cards. The post is narrative backstory for six champions, with no card list or gameplay tie-in published alongside it. Treat it as a story release, not a meta shift, until Immutable says otherwise.

Can you pay with ETH or USDC in Gods Unchained now?

Yes. Since August 25, USDC, ETH and IMX are accepted alongside $GODS, converted automatically at checkout. IMX Passport users also get network fees covered on eligible purchases.

Is Stellarch playable right now?

It's a closed alpha with a waitlist, not an open launch. No parachuting in today. Provably-fair seeded-RNG combat and free-to-start drafting are live. Crypto withdrawal rails and ranked token earning are not.

Is there a public Gods Unchained roadmap?

No. Immutable hasn't published one beyond these three posts, and nothing's confirmed past August.
